Xing Xu
Artist, Producer.

I am a nature artist.

As someone who’s always lived in heavily industrialized cities I’ve become increasingly obsessed with the separation of people and their natural environment. From a child collecting buttons off factory floors in China to beachcombing on the outskirts of New York City I try to use found or discarded objects and scavenged animal remains and whenever possible.

There is a reverence of nature, but often a darkness looking at death and decay. And melancholy/longing of no longer belonging to that world and not belonging to this modern world.

I’m interested in art that transcends time. What remains. Art that serves as an anchor. After all it’s the lost things and the invisible things have so much weight.

Taxidermy art is made from previously deceased animals and discarded items from the streets or while exploring on the beach. Xing has a background in dance which she utilizes to work with dancers and movement artists as a choreographer.
